Quercy Family Special

Freedom Holiday Self Guided Grading Level 1
7 days/6 nights Price - £590pp Tour Code FR010

This tour has been especially designed for families with young children aged up to about 10 years old. The routes are shorter and use quiet roads passing through pretty villages with several places where children can stop and play. As well as enjoying the gorgeous scenery of this region the route will lead you to magical places - castles, caves and open-air museums – often unknown to tourists and where the children will be fascinated. Here, every step takes you to a visible trace of human history like the countless centuries old stone-built houses, mediaeval villages, amazing monuments and paintings from prehistoric times.

Starting in Figeac you will spend the first part of the tour exploring the wonderful Lot valley, surrounded by limestone cliffs. You will visit St Cirq Lapopie, a famous village overlooking a bend in the Lot and perched on the edge of the cliff; the ancient houses rise up over the rocky slope protected by the 500-year-old church. Later in the week you may decide to visit an unforgettable prehistoric cave decorated with paintings estimated to be an incredible 18,000 years old. The route leads you by the gorgeous parts of the Célé Valley, again surrounded by limestone cliffs and so well preserved, time seems to have had no effect.

This Family Tour can also be arranged with slightly longer daily mileages of approximately 16 miles. The price increases by £15pp.
