Daily Itinerary
 

Day 1 Arrive Scopello

Arrival at Palermo airport and transfer to the ancient seafaring village of Scopello perched on a red rock and overlooking the gulf towards the east from where you can find some of the most breathtaking views in Sicily.

Day 2 Scopello 4 miles

After breakfast a day of mixed activities (cycling and trekking) in the Zingaro Nature Reserve along paths that run along the Tirenian coast with beautiful coves and views. Then back to Scopello.

Day 3 Scopello to Buseto Palizzolo 28 miles

First it is a ride from Scopello to the archaeological site of Segesta, a thriving town under the Greeks with its ancient theatre looking towards the sea. Then on to Buseto Palizzolo for the night.

Day 4 Buseto Palizzolo to Trapani 22 miles.

The route from Buseto Palizzolo to Trapani gives you a chance to enjoy the typical countryside and the quietness of Sicily’s interior.

Day 5 Trapani 13 miles.

Off the coast at Trapani are the Egadi islands. Today you visit Favignana, the main island, appearing like a large butterfly on the sea and now famous for its tuna fishing. Back to Trapani for the night.

Day 6 Trapani to Marsala 25 or 30 miles.

Cycling south along the coast from Trapani you can admire the windmills of the saltmines before arriving at the island of Mozia, an ancient stronghold of the Punic age. Now it is an archeological site with a remarkable museum. Then on to Marsala where you can visit a cellar where a special liqueur “Il Marsala all’uovo” is produced.

Day 7 Marsala to Selinute 36 miles

Cycling over hilly terrain to the archeological sites of Cave di Cusa and Selinunte. Selinunte was an ancient Greek town founded in the 7th century BC but destroyed in 409 BC. Visit the park with the remains of the acropolis and temples.

Day 8 Transfer to Palermo airport by bus or train.

Alternatively you may like an extra day.
